Secretary-General's

Message

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), it is my genuine delight to launch the TCS 10th anniversary website. First of all, I would like to extend my wholehearted gratitude to the governments of the People’s Republic of China (China), Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) for their trust and support. My appreciation also goes to our partners in the business, academic, youth, cultural and media sectors of the three countries and beyond. Moreover, I would like to pay respect to the past Consultative Boards and our staff members of the TCS for building the once nascent international organization from the ground up.

The development of the TCS can roughly be divided into two chapters. The first half of the decade from 2011 to 2015 was the period of organizational building and quantitative growth. Beginning to communicate with various ministries and departments, the TCS focused on broadening its reach in existing governmental cooperation platforms from the working to ministerial level. It was this solid foundation that paved the way for the second chapter of the TCS, which can be characterized by qualitative growth through pragmatic contributions in both governmental and non-governmental sectors.
Since 2016, the TCS began to propose and implement cooperative projects on topics such as economy, education, environment, culture, and disaster management. The International Forum for Trilateral Cooperation (IFTC), the Trilateral Journalist Exchange Program (TJEP), the CAMPUS Asia Alumni Workshop, and the Trilateral Common Vocabulary Dictionary (TCVD) are some of TCS’ flagship projects. As the Secretary-General of the 5th Consultative Board, I am proud that what we do can directly address the needs and happiness of the people of the three countries.

Most importantly, the year 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the TCS. In celebration of this milestone, we are planning a series of events that reflect upon our achievements over the past ten years. These events will also provide opportunities to glean lessons for the future. Details of the series of 10th anniversary events will be provided through the TCS official website, this 10th anniversary website, and the TCS official SNS.

I would like to express my gratitude to all of you who are always interested in the success and development of TCS, and I will do my best to promote cooperation in various ways so that the TCS can reach the peoples of China, Japan and the ROK.
I wish you all good health and success, and I ask for your continued support towards trilateral cooperation and the TCS.

TCS Secretary-General,
MICHIGAMI Hisashi
