The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) held the first of its 10th Anniversary Symposium Series: “A Conversation with TCS Secretary-General Hisashi Michigami: Trilateral Cooperation and Youth Exchange” on March 17, 2021.
During the event, TCS Secretary-General MICHIGAMI Hisashi discussed TCS’ history in the past decade, his experiences of working as a Japanese diplomat both in China and the ROK, how Japan can learn from those two countries, and the future of trilateral cooperation. He was joined by Dr. CHANG Jekuk, president of Dongseo University, who discussed the current situation of university exchange during the pandemic, as well as his views on how the ROK can learn from Japan and China.
This event gave special attention to the younger generation who are on the frontlines of people-to-people exchange, represented by such as those who are participating in the CAMPUS Asia program. The event featured student speakers from Peking University, Ritsumeikan University, and Dongseo University, who shared their frank opinions on the difficulties of student life during the pandemic, how China can learn from Japan and the ROK, and suggestions for how the three countries should cooperate.
Nearly 250 people, many of whom were young students, attended the event.
